1) User: Why is our email service down?
Me: Our Email service is fine. What seems to be the trouble?
User: I keep sending messages and they’re never received!
Me: Messages to everyone, or just one person?
User: Well… I guess just one person.
Me: Did you double-check to make sure the email address for the recipient is spelled correctly?
User: Oh yes! Worked fine before when I sent them email previously.
Me: Hmmmm… Let me check on this for you….
Answer: It turns out the recipient email used was NOT the correct address – not even close! Email itself was working fine.

2) User: What’s wrong with the printer?
Me: What do you mean?
User: I keep sending files to it, and nothing comes out.
Me: Anyone else able to print?
User: Yes, everyone else is printing.
Answer: The wrong printer was selected by the user. One that wasn’t even operational.

3) User: My backups aren’t working.
Me: What’s happened?
User: No idea.
Answer: After personally investigating, it was determined that the power plug for the backup drive was kicked/yanked out, causing the drive to turn off.

4) User: My computer just shut down for no reason.
Me: Did you or anyone do anything at that particular moment?
User: Oh yeah. The room heater was plugged into the wall outlet. We’ve done that before. Why? Is that a problem?

5) User: I’m not understanding why the spelling of this word is wrong. Looks right to me.
Me: Did you run it through spell check, or Google it?
User: No. Can you do that for me?

6) User: My keyboard is not working. I tried unplugging and re-plugging it in. Nothing works.
Me: Did anything happen to it?
User: Oh yeah, I spilled coffee on it this morning, but made sure to dry everything off really well!

7) User: My portable hard drive isn’t working.
Me: When was it last working?
User: It was fine for a while. Then it fell out of my bag the other day but it looked ok to me. When I plugged it in, the light came on and it made a clicking noise but never showed up on the desktop. Can you fix it?
Answer: Ummm…. no!

8) User: I’m trying to log in from home and it’s not working for me. Is the Intrigue server down for some reason?
Me: No. The server is fine. Is your internet connection working in general?
User: Oh, that could be it…

9) These images are low res and look a little bit jaggy. Can we still enlarge them to be used on banners and have them look ok?
Answer: Ummm….no.

10)  What’s my password again?

11)  Ummmm… my SD flash card is now completely inside the CD/DVD drive…

12) Why can’t I just email them the fonts? What’s the big deal?

13) I just worked on a complicated Photoshop file. It crashed just before I was about to save. Can you get it back for me?

14) The printer is showing an error, but I didn’t do anything wrong.
Answer: The page setup was incorrect and it’s looking for paper in a size we do not have.

15) Are you busy?  OR….  When you’re not busy (i.e.: downtime), here is a project that needs to be done…
